With an indomitable spirit, Pianist Izumi Tateno has ridden out the aftereffect of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered a few years ago and made a comeback with his left hand.
He has already held several concerts across Japan and is set to take part in a music festival in Finland this summer.
On July 7th, Tateno played at Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Space Concerto for left hand only and chamber orchestra op.129 'The Corpse-Rider' by P.H. Nordgren along with Chamber Orchestra La Tempesta from Finland. This was the first time for the Finnish Orchestra to perform in Japan, and was also the first time for Tateno to present Japanese audience this piece written specially for him by Nordgren.
At VIII Oulunsalo Soi Music Festival-Izumi Tateno & His Friends slated for 30 July through 6 August, Tateno is serving as Artistic Director as well as Pianist. He is one of the founding members of the festival at this beautiful northwest coast of Finland.
He will return to Japan in September for a performance with a Japanese orchestra and then leave for a nation-wide recital tour lasting till December.
