Minister of Transport and Communications Anne Berner will visit Japan on 14–16 November 2016. In Japan, she will be accompanied by a business delegation put together by Finpro. Cities to be visited during the trip are Tokyo and Nagoya.
The cross-cutting theme of the visit is the digitalisation of transport. The aim is to market Finnish expertise in automated transport systems and promote Finnish-Japanese cooperation in automated driving and related testing. Also on the agenda are exports of the Finnish marine cluster, cooperation in the Arctic sea areas and expertise in unmanned shipping.
Minister Berner will have meetings at Japan's Ministry for Internal Affairs and Communications, Cabinet Office, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
She will speak at a seminar in Tokyo arranged by the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) of Japan. The seminar will focus on connected and automated driving systems. Minister Berner will also speak at an event that discusses cooperation between Finland and Japan in the fields of shipping and arctic regions.
She will meet representatives of technology companies and of Keidanren, Japan Business Federation.
