Akane Eskola started working as the new Assistant to the Trade and Economic Section of the Embassy of Finland in Tokyo on 15th February 2017.
Ms. Eskola graduated as a Bachelor of Business Administration from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences' Degree Programme for Multilingual Management Assistants in 2015. As part of her studies, she completed her internship at the International Affairs Unit of the Ministry of the Interior in Finland as a Secretary Intern. Before her current position Eskola worked as an Executive Assistant at the Finnish Institute in Japan in 2016.
Japan is second home for Ms. Eskola as she has attended elementary school in Tokyo and has also worked there before. "I have always wanted to work in a place where I could exploit my knowledge of both Finnish and Japanese culture and languages. My new position at the Trade and Economic Section is exactly the environment where I can improve my skills as a bridge builder between Japan and Finland," says Ms. Eskola.
On her third long-term stay in Tokyo, Ms. Eskola would like to travel across Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa and start traditional Japanese hobbies such as karate and kitsuke. She also wants to learn how to make Japanese home-cooked meals.
The Embassy warmly welcomes Ms. Akane Eskola!
