Embassy of Finland's Trade Section, Business Finland, has two new staff working for tourism and fashion/lifestyle promotion since spring 2018.
Koichi Numata is the new Senior Advisor in charge of tourism promotion with his tasks revolving around increasing the number of Japanese travelers to Finland through cooperation with both Finnish and Japanese tourism partners. In addition, his role requires cross-industry collaboration with various lifestyle brands and food companies in raising Finland’s profile in Japan.
Numata has worked for the Canadian Tourism Commission as a Marketing Manager and right before joining Business Finland, he was involved in a start-up project of the first Low Cost Carrier to operate at Narita International Airport since 2008. After graduating from high school in Hakodate, Hokkaido, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary's University in Nova Scotia, Canada. On his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities.
Laura Kopilow is the new Junior Advisor at the Embassy of Finland's Trade Section. She is in charge of fashion and lifestyle industries supporting Finnish companies’ internationalization and promoting Finnish fashion and lifestyle in Japan.
Kopilow has completed three exchange programs to Japan. She has also work experience from a travel agency that caters especially for the Japanese as well as from a leading Japanese IT company.
After finishing high school homestay program in Hakodate, studies at the University of Helsinki and at Waseda University, she got a Master of Law degree from Hokkaido University. She speaks and writes fluent Japanese. On her free time, Kopilow enjoys experiencing Japanese desserts and running.
