Suomi-kai

Suomi-kai yhdistys

Suomi-kai is an association for Finns in Japan. It has functioned in Tokyo for 40 years. Many Suomi-kai members are old-timers in Japan. The purpose of the association is to maintain Finnish culture and language in Japan. At the moment Suomi-kai has various activities: a Finnish school, a club and summer camp for children, a library and a book borrowing service and a choir. In addition Suomi-kai organises sales and parties for Christmas and springtime.

Suomi-kai meets every third Sunday at 14:00 in Tokyo in the premises of the Finnish church.

Suomi-kirkko - the Finnish Church in Tokyo

Suomi-kirkko

The Finnish Church is an Evangelical-Lutheran church in the Tokyo Nakano ward. The church has a Finnish priest, pastor Paavo Heikkinen, and provides Lutheran religious services to parishioners. The church was founded in 1990.

Every third Sunday of the month the church has prayers in Finnish at 13:30. On three Saturdays a month there is a Finnish language study circle.

The church houses a Finnish library, with books for loan.
